digitalKnowledge Essentials - Issue 5
Welcome to the August edition of digitalKnowledge
Essentials.
It has been a very busy summer for digitalKnowledge! Over the
last two months we have focused a great deal of effort on
formalizing our primary service lines, as well as launching our
new corporate website. Both initiatives were exciting projects
for dK and highlighted just how much we have grown and evolved
as a company in the last three years.
We encourage you to visit our newly redesigned website –
www.digitalknowledge.biz –which offers
details on who we are, what services we provide, as well as
recent client success stories. We hope you find the site
informational – please check back often for updates on recent
news and upcoming events. We would also appreciate any
feedback you have concerning the site and will use your comments
to improve the site in the coming months.
Enjoy the rest of the summer and I look forward to speaking
with you again in early fall.
Sincerely,
Curt Sellke
President, digitalKnowledge

What is OPE?
digitalKnowledge recently formalized a new service offering –
Operational Planning & Efficiency – or, OPE for short.
So what is OPE?
OPE focuses on helping companies who are looking to
accurately diagnose problems in their business, find the right
solution to treat underlying causes, and develop implementation
plans to ensure results are delivered on time and on budget.
The services offered under the OPE umbrella span many aspects
of exploring, identifying, and solving complex business problems
for our clients by combining people, processes, and technology
into the end solution.
OPE standardizes many of our proven approaches to projects
which can now be offered as standalone services or combined into
the early planning cycles of our larger, enterprise-wide
initiatives.

about OPE.

Focus on your “exceptional”
requirements when choosing the right technology tool
Choosing the right technology to meet your business
requirements can be a daunting task. This is especially true
within mature genres of software, such as Customer Relationship
Management (CRM), where there are a large number of potentially
worthy products that have become commoditized at the feature and
functionality level.
To help navigate through this type of technology marketplace,
it is important to both thoroughly understand and prioritize
your requirements, focusing intently on your “exceptional”
requirements that may be truly unique to your business/industry
or may be considered difficult to address.
These “exceptional” requirements can be used to help
differentiate vendors and their offerings. By determining a
small handful of difficult and/or unique “exceptional”
requirements, you can effectively separate a long-list of
technology choices from one another and work to find the best
match.
Think of this approach in terms of the 80-20 rule in which
80% of your requirements can be considered “typical,” and thus,
can be supported by nearly any reputable offering. On the flip
side, the other 20%, those that you consider “exceptional”, can
then be used to find your way to the best solution for your
needs.
