Community: Alaska Christian College Building Project |
digitalKnowledge was founded on a principle of giving more
than we receive and leaving more that we take. As a company, we
are committed to being good corporate citizens and are proud to
be involved with local and national philanthropic organizations
focused on making our communities better places to live and
work.
In late May, Curt Sellke had the opportunity to go on his
first mission trip to Soldotna, Alaska, where he and his oldest
daughter worked with other volunteers at the Alaska Christian
College (AKCC). AKCC, located on the outskirts of the City of
Soldotna on the Kenai Peninsula, is 3 hours by car or 20 minutes
by plane from Anchorage. Their vision is to prepare young people
for whole life discipleship by encouraging the growth of the
whole person — body, soul, mind, and spirit.
This year's efforts focused on constructing a new cafeteria
building for their school. In addition to volunteering time for
this construction project, digitalKnowledge also donated a new
Dell™ server to run their library management system and 25
copies of Trend Micro™ anti-virus software.
Below are pictures from the mission trip construction
project.
This trip was a tremendously moving and fulfilling experience
for Curt and encouraged him to reflect on the many different ways that
each of us can make a positive impact within our local and
global communities.
After this trip, Curt developed and instituted the
Community Outreach program for all digitalKnowledge employees which
allows each person to use up to four paid days of time off each
year, outside of personal vacation time, to contribute time and
talents to charitable organizations.
