The company has become one of the worldwide leaders in orthopedic devices, providing innovative solutions for musculoskeletal disorders. The company is renowned for its innovation, responsiveness and clinical success.  

Challenge

After a few extremely successful years, it began to suffer from common business "growing pains."  It had outgrown the report management system and lost complete access to accurate and timely data.  Each department then created its own version of the truth and all consistency of data was lost. They also lacked the ability to audit the creation of sales reports. They needed to eliminate inconsistencies and form one version of the truth.  They also needed to provide the entire nation-wide sales force with individual, secure access to sales reports and analytics.

Solution

We interviewed all stakeholders and several users to gather feature requirements and truly understand the breadth of their need.  We then crafted a comprehensive OLAP solution complete with Sales Data Mart database, ETL routines, and a SSAS cube and reports.  We were able to automate execution of the database load and report completion and distribution.  Once the system was crafted, we created test scripts and performed User Acceptance Tests.  We accompanied them all the way through deployment and adoption and now provide ongoing support.

Results

Our solution provided the company with one version of the truth.  Sales calculations are now pre-defined and reports are created automatically to reflect the most recent and accurate information.  Sales operations analysts are now able to create reports quickly and without having to define calculations and aggregations.  The solution is complete with drag and drop functions that allow for data exploration and provide executives information that used to take weeks to gather through IT request.  

In addition, the solution we created updates and backs itself up automatically in a timely fashion.  Each day, the entire executive team, sales force (over 900 nation wide) and other select individuals are sent and email update with information catered directly to them, dramatically increasing the efficiency of the organization and the effectiveness of each individual employee.
