An Indianapolis-based technology company which provides software solutions to bridge the gap between energy companies and the millions of customers receiving that energy.

Challenge

The company was on the brink of introducing an innovative software solution to the energy industry that would bridge the gap between energy suppliers and consumers.  Just four months before the release date, those architecting the solution left the company.

With an impending launch date and no developers, the fate of the company rested on finding a new knowledgeable and trustworthy team to complete the design and development of the company's sole solution.

Solution

With four months to go, we (digitalKnowledge) were hired.  In this time we were able to learn key logistics of the energy industry and transform management's ideas and visions into a truly innovative software solution.  The solution encompassed the development of a web based application, a data warehouse, and custom reports.  The final solution leveraged a combination of ASP.NET, C#, SQL 2008 Database, and SQL 2008 Reporting Services.

Results

We created a solution that enables the buyers of energy to know when to buy energy, the appropriate amount of energy to buy, and from whom to buy energy.  This information can now be accessed instantaneously when it used to take the energy companies months to gather.  This is a truly innovative solution, and it has resulted into our client landing some of the biggest energy buyers as his own clients.  A patent has been put on the system, and it is expected to be commercially sold in the future.  For the first time, individual companies have the ability to access energy distribution data.
